Chef Deborah VanTrece to Teams Up with Certified Master Chef Daryl Shular for an Evening of Food and Storytelling on November 7

Chef Deborah VanTrece of Twisted Soul Cookhouse & Pours is joining Certified Master Certified Master Chef Daryl Shular to kick off PlateED’s elevated dining experience “Masters of the Kitchen”, a special curated culinary series taking place at The Shular Institute in Tucker, Ga. on Sunday, November 7th from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

This intimate three-course tasting menu dinner will feature recipes inspired by Chef Deborah VanTrece’s cookbook, The Twisted Soul Cookbook: Modern Soul Food with Global Flavors (Rizzoli 2021). Each course will be expertly paired with crafted cocktails from Stephanie Saputo of Angels Envy Whiskey Guardian Atlanta.

The dinner starts with passed small bites including Nola BBQ Shrimp and Beef and Potato Empanadas (Picadillo Empanadas).

The first course will be Fresh Salmon Croquettes with Spring Pea, Bacon, and Radish Salad. The second course spotlights the low-country staple dish of Country Captain Chicken Stew. The third and final course features Strawberry Moonshine Pound Cake with Moscato Sabayon.

Following the dinner, Chef VanTrece and Certified Master Chef Shular will share their collective narratives as they have navigated through opportunities and challenges in the hospitality, food and beverage industries in the South. Chef VanTrece will also have her cookbook available for purchase and will sign books for attendees.

The Twisted Soul Cookbook features recipes influenced by Chef VanTrece’s travels as a flight attendant and inspired by her Midwestern roots. However, her recipes are just one part of the story. Chef VanTrece has navigated challenges and spurred triumphs on the Atlanta dining scene while opening Twisted Soul, and making it a family-owned restaurant.
